The Good W(L)ife

So today was what Sundays are all about!
I slept late and only awoke because I heard my husband 'trying to be quiet'. It seemed that he had already been in town and bought a newspaper and some fresh muffins and had taken a gander at the weekly car show. He then came home and showered then shaved off his winter beard (yay - first sign of spring!).
Time for this spoiled wife to get up - I could smell the Folgers!
In the afternoon, hubby wanted to relax and watch the game on TV - not sure if it was hockey or football, so like a good wife I let him be.
Aha! But there was a method to my madness. What it really meant was SCRAPBOOKING TIME!

So,I pulled out a photo of our beautiful daughter on her wedding day and scrapbook papers and embellies as he relaxed and watched the game thru his eyelids. I had gotten the January kit from Art Freckles with beautiful vintage paper from Pink Paislee that I was dying to use. I carefully cut and inked the edges of the flowers on one of the PP before adhering it to CS. I then slipped my photo in and under the slits. I tore pieces of PP from the same line and adhered it to a chipboard butterfly. I trimmed, sanded and inked it then added pearls. The swirling of the butterfly I hand stitched.
I used Prima flowers in the top left corner then added some ruffled ribbon thru it.
I found a SU stamp in the catalogue that I liked, but did't have, so I duplicated it on Word and printed it off.

I was happy with the finished product.

And a closeup

Okay, so in between 'stages' I really did keep checking on hubby as he was 'watching the game' (still thru eyelids). So, being a good wife, I just let him be.
When he finally woke up he had a craving for chinese food.
So, AGAIN being a good wife, I picked up the phone and ordered it.
Feeling bad that he slept the afternoon away, hubby cleared the table and put the leftovers away. Again, being the good wife that I am, I let him do it so as not to have him feel bad.
After dinner we watched the SAG Awards and now it's after 11:00 and he's off to saw more logs while I blog.

A good wife? Maybe. A good husband? Yes.

Have a great week! :)

Change is Good!

So,I've been playing around and made a few changes around here. I figured out how to change the background, colours and font. I also changed the name to just Blue Apple and added Scrapbookng & Company below. I added a pic of me as well as all my fave blogs. It looks better don'tcha think?
I have also been trying for 2 days to add a Slideshow but that has been more frustrating than my ataxia!! Stay tuned.
(EDIT - FINALLY AFTER 3 DAYS AND A FEW WORDS I WON'T MENTION - IT WORKS!!!!!!!!
Thanks to my very patient and understanding husband and thanks to my son for his suggestion - which eventually led me to success!)
Anyways, what was I saying? Oh yeah, speaking of ataxia, did I mention that I have it? As many of you already know, I have Friedreich's Ataxia and have been confined to a wheelchair for almost 10 years now. FA is a progressive degenerative neuromuscular disease. I was actually diagnosed with it 23 years ago back in London, Ontario. It has become a way of life for myself and my family. When faced with a disability you don't stop living, you just learn to live it differently. I have been the volunteer President of the BC Ataxia Society off and on for over 10 years. It helps me 'cope' (I hate that word!) while also helping others.
Anyways, today I got an invitation from a drug company wanting to sponsor me to attend a 1-day ataxia workshop in Toronto next month. All expenses are paid for both myself and a caregiver to attend. It would be nice to go to see my mother and family, if only for dinner. If my stepchildren and grandchilden could make the trek from Sarnia it would be that much better!
I'll have to wait until next week to get all the deets.
Again - a change would be good!

Have a Great Weekend!

My Space

Hey, two days in a row blogging - pretty good, eh?
No, I haven't gotten any projects done since yesterday (just housework!) but a couple of people asked if I would post pics of my scrap room.
I had one at our last house that I just loved. It was cream and black with a deep cranberry red accent wall. Accessories were in black/cream/red thanks to Ikea and a black/cream toile bedding thanks to on-line shopping. It doubled as a guestroom and I absolutely loved it.

Well, as many of you know, we moved to a smaller place in November. I purged and purged then purged some more as did my husband. I think they call it 'downsizing' - that thing that happens when you have empty nest syndrome. Anyhoo I still ended up with lots of 'necessary' stuff.
My scraproom is much smaller with no room for a bed. (well, I had to prioritize - but we do have a comfy sofabed) It was already painted a nice tan type colour - not my choice but fresh and clean nonetheless. So, I set everything up and now I actually like it better. I have everything I need within reach and it is comfy and cozy - now all I need is a small TV to hang on the wall (hint, hint).

Thanks for Looking!

Slacker

Okay, so it's been established - I'm a bad blogger. Ah well, I've been called worst!
This month my mom told me how much her friend loved the notecards I had made her (my mom) at Christmas. So, I said I would mail a little something for her. My mom said 'Pauline' liked the colour green and loved her vintage notecard the best. So I set out to create a little 4X4 vintage notebook for her.
It has flowers, pearls and ribbon and vintagey lace and paper - and of course I used my Bind-it-All. Love that thing!

Then i got to thinking that my mom would love one too. So, not to upset her, I made her one.
She is more into glitz and glam and loves the colour purple, so hers reflects that. It has ribbon and bling and all things pretty (although it's hard to see the bling down the right hand side in the pic).

I then made one for my stepdaughter's daughter (technically my step-granddaughter - :)) I made her's pink and tan suitable for an 18 year old girl but then found the cutest little gold glittery key chain pen at a gift shop in town. It was perfect to clip onto the binding and just the right size! The best part is that it's available in lots of colours for when I make more books! The bad part is that I sent it without taking a pic! :(

I also made some cards this month. Again, I forgot to take pics!!! Apparently I am not just a bad blogger!!
I made 2 Baby Congrat cards - one for my son and daughter-in-law and one for my niece in Ontario. Big congrats to both - VERY EXCITING!
I also made a Birthday Card for my daughter-in-law - again no pic! AAARGH!!

Oh, I did do a scrapbook layout of a pic of my mother and sister and myself at our daughters wedding this past summer though. And guess what?? I took a pic of it!!!!

I got a new scalloped edge punch that I love and have been using it on everything! (along edges of vertical paper with photo, etc.) Used SU stamps, Prima flowers, buttons and voila!
Well that's all for now folks. I promise to blog more often and take pics of projects in the future.

Bye for now :)
