Music to my Ears!

That is the sound of a Cement Truck backing up to our house!! FINALLY!! After rain and setbacks the concrete was poured today. Although we can't walk on it for 48 hrs. it was well worth the wait. I LOVE it. Our walkway and adjoining patio is all a medium brown stamped concrete - it looks fabulous. It was a welcome sight after being carried and pushed along plywood planks to get in and out of the house - something that required 2 people. Two more days and I can go out myself and tear up this town on my Harley (aka scooter). I can hardly wait!
The house inside is coming together too. I finally had a brainwave and figured out the best way to arrange the furniture. I love it and it makes everything completely accessible.
Next week I can finally concentrate on my scrapbooking and organizing that.
Soon I promise ... soon. :)

Click those Ruby Reds 3 Times - It WILL be nice, it WILL be nice...

Well, I'm here and on-line but not necessarily back! We did get moved in. The move went fine - if you want to call paying movers for TEN hours fine!.It was worth every penny just to get away from the landlord from hell. Everything is in chaos though. Those who know me know that I have to be organized with everything in it's place - so this chaos is driving me crazy! To make matters worst, when we came to see this place they were doing outside renovations and explained what their vision was. No problem - it was exciting and a relief to have such an enthusiastic, friendly landlord. We had assumed it was their long term plan and signed a 2 year lease knowing that we would see some of their vision come to light. Well, apparently it was a short term plan. We have awakened to the sound of contractors every day. The ground was torn up as they installed new drainage tiles, then it was excavated to allow new walkways, patio's (it's a fourplex) and driveways. Sand now replaces mud as forms are in waiting for the rain to stop so that concrete can be poured. New windows, new doors, new decks, carports made into garages, new walkway overhangs and a new roof line have all been added. Wood siding is being replaced then all will be painted and professionally landscaped. I'm talking big time professional reno's - not the DIY in your spare time that we had thought. It's going to be SO nice when done - I'm glad we got in when we did because once done it'll be the envy of the neighbourhood. The real problem though is that I can't get out of the house in my wheelchair!! Talk about frustration!!! I just need to keep reminding myself of how nice it will be - and pray for sunshine so they can pour the cement! (they're aiming for Tues/Wed this week).
A friend suggested that I scrapbook to keep my mind off things. I'd love too - but it's all packed and there's no sign of that happening for a least a month! Sad, I know. We've arranged rooms, let alone furniture, and rearranged then rearranged again. I'm still not happy with it but it's the way it has to be. Another frustration to me is that I don't have a vision that I can work towards. I always pride myself in the fact that I know exactly what to do. But not this time. I'm at a loss and I hate it. I'm sure that one morning I'll wake up at 3AM and know just what to do. In the meantime, I'll find comfort in trusting myself and knowing that someday it will be nice - oh yeah and I'll continue to buy lottery tickets!!
I'll stay in touch but there will be no scrappy projects for a while. And wouldn't you you know it that my 'geek' club (scrapbooking technique club) is on hiatus - the one time that I could really use the break! It'll be back in June though and best of all, it'll be closer to home.
See - it WILL be nice, it WILL be nice...
