It's been a busy month at Sapphire Noteables. Along with the mini album made for my daughter, five of my albums and notebooks found a new home in Arizona and I received a custom order for an album plus one of my notebooks which is off to Luxembourg! As thrilled as I was it meant getting busy remaking inventory and also the custom order had me thinking outside the box. The buyer spoke of how much she loved my albums yet wanted one with no flowers, no bling, no lace and not cutesy or feminine - most of which mine have. She also wanted a 'mushroom' or 'moose' theme made in the 'translucent colours of water' - and black. So, I went with the mushroom theme seeing how embellies, etc. were more available. The problem was that I was stumped on what paper to use. Any I knew of were cutesy or feminine with mushrooms and pixies and fairies. So I went on-line and found the perfect vintage style mushroom papers in turquoise and greens. It was digital papers designed by a graphic designer. Digital papers are something I have never worked with before but I knew this paper was perfect. So I bought it, picked a nice heavy paper and printed them off. I was amazed at the clarity and colour. I knew the 5 pages printed would not be enough for an album so I went on-line to find blues and greens of water. Again, I found the perfect paper - it even had swirls like water. Now if I get a custom order that I know of no traditional papers for I will not hesitate to buy a digital download. Who Knew!!
How perfect are these -
I made the book itself with black envelope pages and a cover with another downloaded 'mushroom' design that I misted and added colour to then framed with black cardstock.,ribbon and vintage brads. I wanted to hang my signature bookmark charm from the binding so I used a Prima resin mushroom adhered to a black chipboard circle misted with bronze. It was perfect! So out of my comfort level but I was up for the challenge and enjoyed every moment of making it. I hope my Luxembourg friends are just as happy!
Now off I go to replace some of those 5 albums that are on their way to Arizona.
Hmmm - maybe something scary and spooky -for Hallowe'en.
