Bathroom Break

I hope everyone has had a better week than me.Well, it's been okay and it WILL be good - very good! My bathroom has been under renovations to give me a new accessible one. Last week it was completely gutted - vanity, sink, toilet, bathtub - all gone! The floor was jack hammered and wood was added to the walls to support the new sink and grab bars  then new drywall was added. Did I mention the dust? Oh boy - my condo had a layer of dust over EVERYTHING! For such a small bathroom it sure made a mess of my place.  There was even dust when I opened my dresser drawer. I woke up with my face feeling gritty - it was dust off my pillow and duvet - crazy!
So with demolition done, a new roll-in shower in place, new flooring and a fancy toilet (with a bidet seat) I have been promised that the worst is over and there will be no more dust. THANK YOU! So my cleaning lady spent four hours today cleaning every little thing, scrubbing floors and washing linen.
Tomorrow the painting begins.
Meanwhile, here  are some before pics and the progress that has been made so far.
Oh - and scrapbooking? Well once again, everything has ended up in my scraproom - lotions, shampoos, towels, tp, ladders, tools, drywall supplies, paint, baseboards...

This was my bathroom before

                                                      This was after demolition

This is with the new roll-in shower

This is my new AWESOME bidet toilet
                                         - it even comes with a remote control - a toilet!!!!!

And this is my new awesome floor!
It's little hexagon shaped marble tiles in shades of white and grey.
The tile guy was cursing me but I absolutely love it!

So that's where we are for now. At least I have a shower and toilet. No more running down the hall to use the guest suite! I'll keep you updated and not only will I have a nice new accessible bathroom once done but also I will have my scraproom back so I can get down to more important business.
Have a great week!

A Special Day

I love birthdays - except when they're mine! The older I get it seems the faster they come. Well last
week was my sweet granddaughters first birthday. It was bittersweet as she was only 4 days old when my husband passed away. I thought of how proud he would be and how much he would have loved to have been there. I know he was in spirit - and she will always have a guardian angel watching over her.
She had a winter themed party with sparkly snowflakes and glitter. Her dress was gorgeous and was the inspiration for the theme - she looked like a snow princess.

Sorry for the poor photo but it gives you an idea - the top was fake fur and laced up with ribbon.
The skirt part was a delicate flowered taffeta covered in tulle.
But of course, we had to cover it up for eating cake - she loved it!

After buying her gift I realized that I didn't have a card. I am not a huge card maker but with supplies in hand I tried to think of what a little girl would like. I didn't want cutesy cute and didn't want it to be grown up but I definitely knew it  had to be girly. So what little girl doesn't like cupcake! So this is what I came up with.

I drew and cut a paper cup to fit the card front then used a lace punch along the top. I then drew the 'frosted cake' for the top in 2 layers then inked both layers. I added sparkles with stickles and rubbed stickles on a number one chipboard 'candle'. A ribbon  and bow finished the cupcake off . A small banner marked the occasion. It was fast, simple, easy and girly.

Life is good but nothing beats the joy of having grandchildren!
